116. Could it be you?

Please let me know if you feel like the personality profile in this episode relates to you in particular... Welcome to episode number 116 of Luke-s English Podcast. This episode features an experiment into the linguistic tricks that are used in mind reading and fortune telling. I must say at the beginning that I do not really believe that psychic powers exist. I think mind reading looks like a magic power but actually it is just a trick. This episode and the next one, are about this subject. There is a full tapescript for this episode available here http://teacherluke.wordpress.com/2012/10/10/116-could-it-be-you/- #mindreading #psychics #derrenbrown #barnum #statements #english Sign up to LEP Premium on Acast+ https://plus.acast.com/s/teacherluke.

113. Setting The World To Rights

What does this expression mean? Well, according to the Macmillan dictionary it means -to have a conversation with someone in which you exchange opinions on a range of subjects, especially opinions on how to solve society-s problems-. That-s exactly what I did in this episode. Listen and you-ll hear me engaging in conversation with a colleague of mine named Eamon. We went to the pub for a quick pint and ended up setting the world to rights. Eamon is a very intelligent and interesting guy and I-m sure you-ll enjoy listening in on our conversation. I-ve decided it will help you immensely if you can read some of the phrases we use in this episode, and so I-ve written many of those things in a list below. You can use it to learn more vocabulary, understand the episode better, and generally become a more wonderful human being in the process. You-re welcome!
