As an Associate Professor in the Psychiatric Department, at Cairo University, Dr. Ashraf Adel earned a Master's Degree working with cancer patients at the Cancer Institute, and have completed a PhD in substance abuse. For more than twenty years, he has been teaching at Cairo University, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate level. He is also responsible for the training process of individual and group psychotherapy for psychiatrists and psychologists at the University. This is through lectures and regular peer supervision. He practices Gestalt Therapy, that emphasizes personal responsibility and focuses upon the individual's experience in the present moment and Eclectic Therapy which incorporates a variety of therapeutic principles in order to create the ideal treatment program to meet the specific needs of the client including Humanistic and Gestalt approaches. He has been practicing Gestalt Here and Now groups for the last twenty years. He worked clinically and through research at RidgeView Psychiatric Hospital Atlanta, Georgia, working with adolescents with emotional and behavioral challenges. Additionally, also worked with children facing attention and learning difficulties, misconduct, autism, nocturnal enuresis, depression, anxieties and other challenges. In 2019, Co-founded a mega virtual clinic offering diverse mental health services—O7 Therapy.
